Every Friday the Fork Union Military Faculty and Staff meet to nominate a few who have exceeded the standards and demonstrated superlative performance. Whilst we have various awards and recognitions - a simple "Well Done!" we hope, is also appreciated. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags, i.e., Bravo Zulu, also referred to as "BZ," is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning "Well Done" with regard to actions, operations or performance.
The following are the Bravo Zulu awards for this week:
Cadet Private Dalton Davis is a first-year cadet in Alpha Company. He is currently a boarding student from Leland, North Carolina. Cadet Davis has made an impression among cadets in Alpha Company by his initiative to prepare and train the mid-term cadets. Alpha Company received several new cadets in February and Cadet Davis has gone out of his way to be a servant leader. He has helped the new cadets with room inspections, PAI’s and understanding the daily schedule. Cadet Davis is a member of the prep football team and has high marks in Coach Fauntleroy’s English II class. Bravo Zulu, c/PVT Davis!
Cadet First Sergeant Michael Luce is a third-year cadet in Bravo Company. He is currently a boarding student from Woodford, Virginia. Cadet Luce is a year-round swimmer and is currently getting ready for the upcoming lacrosse season, while overseeing all the administrative duties within Bravo Company. His charisma and demeanor has positively impacted other members of his company. Bravo Company is competing hard against Alpha Company for the best overall company and has won more PAI and room inspections this year than in their previous years. This is a testament to Cadet Luce’s example. Bravo Zulu, c/1SG Luce!
Cadet Second Lieutenant Massimo Swail is a third-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is currently a boarding student from Miami Beach, Florida. Cadet Swail is the Platoon Leader for First Platoon and oversees the 7th graders at Fork Union. He has worked tirelessly on improving his manual of arms so he could then teach the younger cadets and lead by example. His patience and persistence has been noted among the members within his platoon. Bravo Zulu, c/2LT Swail!
MAJ Hubert and Coach Kotol were asked to step into different teaching roles mid-term on very short notice. Both have done a wonderful job providing a seamless transition for our cadets over the last two weeks. Their flexibility and teamwork is recognized and commended. Bravo Zulu, Maj. Hubert and Coach Kotol!
Ms. Shannon Higginbotham, Advancement’s Director of Annual Giving and Parent Relations, is recognized for her work in co-planning and executing this year’s successful Phonathon campaign. Her efforts not only enabled us to meet our goals, but also created a memorable experience for our team of cadet callers. Bravo Zulu, Shannon Higginbotham!
Go FUMA!
