Important Notice - Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, Day Students are expected to attend class and make arrangements with their respective TAC Officer to stay overnight if hazardous traveling conditions persist.  If the forecast is predicting hazardous traveling conditions that would preclude travel to FUMA, day students should make arrangements to stay on campus.

Day students do not fall under the guidelines that govern the Fluvanna County school system "snow day" policies, delays or cancellations.

If a day student decides to stay on campus, they must stay in the barracks.  The TAC Officer will assign them a room, and sheets and pillowcase will be provided.  During their stay, all meals will be provided in the dining hall.

In the event of an inclement weather forecast, it is recommended that day students who drive to campus keep a packed overnight bag in their vehicle.

Day students who board on campus are expected to adhere to all rules and policies that apply to boarding students and cadet life.  This includes turning in cell phones to respective TAC Officer.

Please contact the Commandant's Department if you have any questions or concerns reference inclement weather boarding procedures.

Reminders

DAY STUDENT DRIVERS:   Day studentsqho drive to campus, must park near the outdoor basketball courts.       Drivers ARE NOT allowed to move or park their vehicle in another location unless approved by the Commandant's Department.  Day students are not allowed to park in front of or behind Estes Athletic Center at any time.  Violators will have driving privileges to campus to be revoked by the Commandant's Department.

PARENTS DROPPING OFF & PICKING UP CADETS:  Just as a reminder, the road around the Jacobson Hall building is now one way.  Please enter from the first corner of the building (at Charlie Company) and exit at the Alpha and Bravo wings.  For the safety of ALL cadets, we ask that you form one line and DO NOT attempt to pass stopped vehicles to the left as cadets are bringing dropped off.  When picking up cadets, if you would like to park -- please pull off to the side of the road.

For more information, contact Amy Reese, Activities Coordinator (reesea@fuma.org or 434-842-4238)
